Shiawassee River
Smallmouth Bass Tournament 2004

The annual Shiawassee River Smallmouth Bass Tournament, sponsored by T.I.M.E. (Transplants in Motion Everywhere), was held on June 12 & 13, 2004. Despite the tough fishing conditions with the high water, fast current, and low visibility from the recent rain, nearly 200 anglers took part in the tournament. Prizes were given out for the top 5 biggest fish. Rob and Jason caught many nice fish during the 7 hour canoe trip with two of the bass worthy of weighing in. All fish were released.

Jason got off to a great start by catching two big Smallies early in the day. Only one fish is allowed to be weighed in, per person, so the bigger one was kept for weigh-in. The fish weighed in at 2.4 lbs, just
a little bit shy of 5th place at the time.

The fishing was very slow the entire day, but Rob did manage to land this hog during the middle of the day. The hog Smallmouth weighed in at 3.25 lbs (3 pounds, 4 ounces). At the time of weigh-in this was good enough for 2nd place, but by the end of the tournament it was good enough for 3rd place.

Rob was awarded a brand new gas grill for the 3rd place fish.
